Baumkuchen with Japanese Strawberries

Baumkuchen with Japanese Strawberries

Serves 2

 

Ingredients

•  8 Japanese Strawberries 

•  3 Eggs (room temperature) 

•  100g Butter (room temperature) 

•  70ml Milk (room temperature) 

•  100g Sugar

• 2 tsp Baking powder

•  25g Wripping Cream

•  Rosemary

• Icing Sugar 

 

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 220 degrees Celsius. 

2.  Beat eggs in a mixing bowl

3. Mix butter with white sugar. Continue mixing and add beaten eggs.

4. Keep mixing and add plain flour, baking powder and milk into the mixture.

5. Put 1/6 of the mixture into baking pan, and begin baking in the oven at 220 degrees for seven minutes.

6. Remove the baking pan from the oven and insert another 1/6 of the mixture into the baking pan. Bake for 7 minutes. Repeat this step four more times.

7. Remove the cake from the baking pan and keep in room temperature.

8. Mix white sugar with whipping cream. Beat until it holds soft peaks.  

9. Apply whipped cream on to the cake.

10. Dress with strawberries, rosemary and icing sugar.

11. Cut and serve.

Double-steamed Snow Pear with Honey

Serves 1

 

Ingredients

•  1 Japanese Koisui Pear/ Shinkansen Pear

•  2-3 Jujubes

•  2-3 Slice Giner

•  15ml Honey

 

Instructions

1. Keep the skin of the pear and make a lib by slicing 1 inch off the top after washing. Then scoop out the core and the seeds with a small spoon.

2. Put the honey, ginger, core, and jujubes into the pear and fill it up. 

3. Put the sliced lid back on the pear and put it in a plate. Steam the pear about 40 minutes over medium low heat.
